Yes, you can upgrade your account at anytime. There is no fee to upgrade from one web hosting plan to another. Upgrading from a web hosting plan to an ecommerce plan will require an account upgrade. Contact for details.

How do I transfer files to my Web site?

Files can be transferred to the Web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP). If you have a PPP Internet account and need FTP software, there are several programs you can download for either the PC or Mac from a site like http://shareware.cnet.com/. Internet providers such as AOL, CompuServe, and Prodigy may have a built-in FTP interface. If you are using Microsoft Frontpage, you can use the software's built in file transfer utility to transfer your files to the server.

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

You have unlimited access via FTP or FrontPage 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your Web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.

How do I access the secure server?

There are two ways two access the secure server.

1)  As Web Hosting customer you can access any of your web content (documents, images, scripts, etc.) on our Server securely by using the "https://" prefix rather than the "http://" prefix. For example, to send the contents of a fill-out-form securely to one of your CGI scripts, you would include something like the following in your HTML source:

You should be sure that once you enter secure mode that you do not reference embedded document content (images, etc.) by an insecure prefix http:// use this example:

If you have images, etc. put them in your /cgi-bin/ and update your links to reflect the correct name (i.e. src="https://www.abetterserver.securesites.com/Your Directory/cgi-bin/image.gif") Any directory within your site can be made secure using the above method, there is no cost you to access the secure sever.

2)  If you have your own digital certificate you can access your site directly via your domain using https:

Can I run my own cgi scripts?

Yes. Each account has its own "cgi-bin" allowing you to upload and run any cgi scripts of your choice. You may need to change the permission settings to activate your scripts.

A Better Server offers it's customers a number of cgi scripts which you can install into your account via the browser based control panel. In most cases all it takes is one click! How often are the stats updated?

Your website statistics are updated in real time. Unlike many hosting companies who update their stats once an hour or once a day, your website statistics are generated live each time they are accessed You may view them 24/7 from your control panel.

How do I get answers to my tech support questions?

What does unlimited bandwidth mean?

Unlike many other hosting companies, we do not charge any kind of fee for exceeding a predetermined bandwidth limit. We will however suggest that you upgrade your site if you begin to receive an inordinate amount of traffic (many hundreds of thousands of hits per day usually.)

Each account is automatically set up with MKstats program free of charge. The stat program creates logs of every hit or access to your site. You may view this information directly via your control panel. We regularly clean up the log files about once a month, but your stat files ( hit counters) will remain completely intact. Logs can eat up your storage space, but they do not affect bandwidth usage which is unlimited. We mention this because some customers like to print out log files. We suggest that print out files before the last day of the month as they are permanently deleted on the first day of the month.

Right Here! We do not allow any persons to host any sites that are considered inflammatory or have sexual content. We do not allow spamming. If we receive any complaints about your site it will turned off immediately pending further investigation. Use this rule as a guide and you can't go wrong. Would your mother approve of your site and let her children view it? Enough said.
